Whenever the police respond to a late-night accident, they know they could be in for the worst. It seems like, the later it gets, the worse the accidents get too. Whether it’s a drunk driving accident or just a multi-vehicle crash, the outcome is never good. Sadly, this appeared to be the case this weekend in North Andover, Massachusetts.
A young woman was driving her car near 422 Waverly Road at about 10:30 pm. Somehow, she got into a serious crash with another driver. By the time the police arrived at the scene, they found both cars seriously damaged, with one of the vehicles lying on its side.
There were three people involved in the crash. The driver of one vehicle, 30-year old Yahaira Colon was seriously injured in the crash. Rather than take the time to take her to a further hospital, they ended up taking her to Lawrence General Hospital. Despite their efforts, Colon died by the time she arrived at the hospital.
The passenger in Colon’s car was also seriously hurt. They were flown to Boston Medical Center and was listed as being in critical condition. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to Lawrence General Hospital and was listed in stable condition.
The makes and models of the vehicles involved in the crash were not identified. Nor were the names of the passenger and second driver released by the authorities. The investigation is still ongoing. As of the time of this article, the police didn’t seem to have any idea what caused the crash or who was at fault.
