Nobody should ever get behind the wheel after drinking or doing drugs. And the Boston police see more drunk driving accidents during the holidays than any other time. This was the case again this past weekend when the police responded to a two-vehicle crash in Pembroke, Massachusetts.
Apparently, 31-year old Gregory Goodsell had just left a company holiday party and had been drinking. Early Sunday morning, the car he was driving struck a car driven by a 50-year old Pembroke woman. She had two 13-year old girls in the backseat of her car at the time.
The woman’s Subaru was hit by a Ford pickup truck being driven by Goodsell, a Pembroke native. He had just left an office party being hosted by his employer, Hi-Way Safety. Ironically, this is a company that the Massachusetts Department of Transportation has contracted with before. He was not on the clock at the time of the accident. Nor was there any information that said he was in his company vehicle when he hit the Subaru.
The driver of the Subaru and her two passengers were taken to Boston’s Children Hospital. 13-year old Claire Zisserson died at the hospital at about 9:30 pm as a result of her injuries. The other young girl also suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive. There was no medical update provided for the 50-year old woman driving the Subaru.
Gregory Goodsell was arrested for OWI and manslaughter. He is currently being held at the Pembroke County Jail without bond pending his hearing on January 3, 2020.
